Purpose of the Justice Leadership Academy
The Justice Leadership Academy (JLA) is a specialized educational program designed to introduce students to the complexities of the criminal justice system. Through in-depth discussions, real-world scenarios, and multimedia resources, students will explore topics such as lawmaking, law enforcement, judicial proceedings, and ethical decision-making. The curriculum includes analyzing controversial events that may involve sensitive content to foster critical thinking and an understanding of ethical challenges in the criminal justice field.
It is important to note:
Any parent, guardian or other responsible adult is welcome at any/all meetings for both the JLA and the CJS. No notice is necessary, if you have an interest about the topic or you are just curious- please come join in.
If you would like to learn more about me, follow the link to the about me section.
Waiver for Sensitive Content
As a participant in this program, students will be exposed to multimedia materials that may include:
Foul Language: Instances of strong language as part of real-world scenarios.
Violence: Depictions of violent events relevant to the criminal justice topics being studied.
Nudity: Although unlikely, some controversial incidents may contain partial nudity. All efforts will be made to avoid these instances, but there may be cases where it is unavoidable.
By signing this waiver, you understand and accept that your student may be exposed to this type of content. These materials are presented in a structured and educational setting, with the purpose of facilitating critical discussion on ethical issues and decision-making in the criminal justice process.
Media Policy Acknowledgment

Success Stories from 2024-25
During the 2024-25 school year we were able to successfully introduce High School students to many different criminal justice professions. Ultimately we were able to facilitate two separate internships over the summer.
One of the internships was with a Judge in Roane County and the other was with a private practice firm in Downtown Knoxville.
This coming year we have even more opportunities for the graduating senior class, and ways for them to highlight themselves to their chosen universities.
